Introduction

The Lantern Community has offered work experience and training for over 25 years, and continues to develop and improve its range of facilities. We are situated on the border of Dorset and Hampshire, in a peaceful rural setting that allows for freedom of movement between our Workshops. The nearby town of Ringwood, a walk of fifteen minutes, is served by a wide range of bus and taxi services.

Our Aim

Our aim is to support and encourage every person in reaching their individual potential, through meaningful work. By celebrating and recognizing individual and shared achievements, an atmosphere of trust and mutual support is developed.

Facilities

Our facilities are wide and varied and include: Pottery, Weavery, Bakery, Horticulture, Estate Work, Woodwork, Art Studio, Handcraft, Shop and Café. The workshops generally are open from 9.00am till 5.00pm five days a week. We have exciting plans to develop new purpose built workshops.

Management

Our workshops are managed by individuals who are highly qualified and are Masters in their respective fields, each having experience in supporting and passing on their skills to others. Additional support staff (co-workers) also work alongside, as part of the team.

Choosing to Join

Should you be thinking of joining us in the Lantern Workshops, the first step would be to visit and talk to us about what you would like to do. At the same time you can visit the Workshops and talk to people about the work that they do. It may be that in the particular Workshop you would like to try there is no place for an additional person at the particular time, but one may become available later. We would also need to know how many day/s, and what days of the week, you would like to come. We can also explain what we charge for the training and work experience you would receive.
