Do you talk to your plants? If you do, there is a distinct possibility that the elemental beings or nature spirits, that are at work in the earth and heavens around us, are hearing you. Is that pure fantasy even to think such a thing that only belongs in fairy stories for children?  Well, to quote Hamlet "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

When working with Biodynamics in our farms and gardens, in the composts and preparations, and the planting calendar, inherent in this approach is the acknowledgement and willingness to work in harmony with these beings; the Gnomes at work in the earth and the roots of the plant, the Undines bringing moisture to the foliage, the Sylphs in the realm of light, bringing shape to the plant and the Salamanders in the realm of warmth and forming the seed.

Our morning gatherings acknowledged the work of the elemental beings, their contribution to the realm of Nature, and what we owe to them in nurturing the growth of our plants.                                                                                                                              Simon Figg
